No NOAA current station here. The app assumes the ebb is possible from 30 minutes before high water until 3 hours after low water, at about 3 kn, setting toward 75° (east) along the inlet axis. It says so on screen: the window is deliberately wide.
Ebb against swell on the bar
Swell and wind from the east meet the ebb head on: waves get shorter and steeper and can break on the bar. The same swell on the flood is usually far easier. The app compares the hour-by-hour current with the forecast waves and wind to rate each hour.
A northeast swell of any size is treated as hazardous here.
Bar depth used to estimate wave steepening: about 2.5 m (8 ft). Sandbars move: this is not a chart and never says where to cross.
Local notes
- Described as not navigable without local knowledge; shifting sandbar that can change daily.
- Considered impassable in a northeast swell of any size.
