What is a mate in 2 or 3?
A mate in 2 (or 3) is a chess puzzle where the side to move forces checkmate in exactly 2 (or 3) moves, whatever the opponent replies. Every puzzle here was checked with the Stockfish engine: only one first move wins.
How to play
Tap a piece, then the square where it should go. If the move is right, the opponent replies automatically. A wrong move is taken back so you can try again, and a hint appears after three tries.
A new chess puzzle every day
The puzzle changes every day at midnight (UTC). It is free, with no sign-up and no ads. To train further, the Chess Openings app has 180 mate puzzles and 113 openings to learn move by move.
